| Compiling Tools |
Half-Life Compilation Controller (HLCC) 1.4 This is the preferred method of compiling one's levels. Instead of having Worldcraft do it (and inevitably mess something up), HLCC runs all the compilation processes in a raw DOS-window form, leaving no room for extraneous bugs. Different compiling options are supported, and you can also make batch files for compiling your level. This is also quite useful when you want to compile several levels in a row. Compilers These files are absolutely required to compile your levels, and you probably already have them in your Worldcraft directory. However, these are the most recent versions. homepage: none |

Mdlviewer 2.11 This is a program that will load and view Half-Life models in the .mdl format. Along with the models, it will import their textures, different bodies, skins, export textures, and more. Runs pretty quick, and can come in quite handy for viewing different animations for scripted_sequences among other things. Half-Life Model Viewer v1.24 Another Half-Life model viewer. Actually, I like this one more than Mdlviewer. It's really low on bugs, and loads a nice big viewing window. There are plenty of options, and even a 3DFX accelerated 3D viewing mode. Highly recommended, an excellent program. Download size: 111K homepage: http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft |
Half-Life Sprite Viewer v1.05 Beta A small but useful program for viewing Half-Life's sprites. Download size: 34K homepage: http://www.planethalflife.com/mach3 |

Pak Explorer Pak Explorer is a neat application that allows one to view and extract the contents of .pak files. These are the files that contain most of the media-type content in quake-based games and some others. With Pak Explorer, you can view these files within the .pak file, and if you wish, extract them for your own use. Download size: 84K homepage: unavailable |
WinBSP A clever little program that will take a BSP and decompile it back into a .map file. This is of great use when you want to see how Valve did something in Half-Life, or if you just want to be a dirty copycat. Problems that are often reported are that textures are sometimes misaligned in the process, and some brushes may decompile incorrectly. Half-Life FGD 1.71 This is the index of entities to be used in Worldcraft for Half-Life. Worldcraft of course already came with it, but this is the most recent version. Download size: 15K homepage: http://halflife.gamedesign.net |
